help reduce clutter.
If you have something that you are not going to use in the
foreseeable future, throw it away or recycle it. Often times,
things like this add to clutter and never even get used again.
Having cans or bins located in areas where clutter collect
makes throwing things away easier.
When you collect the mail, go through it immediately. Throw
away or recycle used envelopes, junk mail, and mail that you
don’t need. Shred confidential immediately. So it is good to
have a shredder nearby where you open your mail. Put all mail
that you will keep in an in-box or a designated place for letters,
bills, and other.
If more than one room becomes overrun with clutter, start with
one area at a time. This way, you won’t get overwhelmed and
decide to throw in the towel. In the kitchen for example, start
with the counters and tables, than go to the drawers, cabinets
and other areas.
Get a really good filing system going for bills, statements and
records. File folders and file cabinets are easy to use and will
save you a ton of time when you need to locate something.
When it comes to clothes, the rule is if you haven’t worn it in
the last year you should give it away. You can do this with your
children’s and spouses clothes as well.
Giving away toys that aren’t being used not only gets rid of a
major source of clutter but also teaches kids the importance of
sharing.
Try to spread decorations evenly throughout the house. This
will help you avoid putting them all in one place.
